Light Painting Wireframing tool

The idea:

Create a tool that projects a laser net to combine with the Light Painting photography technique, so that when projecting this net over a scene, it “seems” to be a wireframing view of a 3D modeled scene.

Solution:

Using only one laser pointer, create a set of horizontal and vertical lines that combined with the photo long exposure will result in a laser net. The laser pointer is moved by two RC servos controlled with a PWM signal generated by a 16F876A PIC microcontroller.
Once the circuit is done, the program can be configured to change laser speed, offset between lines and net size.

For the video I used a 7.4V LiPo battery, the voltage is regulated by a 7805, and the laser pointer uses one of the PIC 5V outputs with a 25 Ohms resistor.

Gears 2

New tries with gears, this time with ambient occlusion and background texture. This is a part of a future photography work.

3D MAX 2011 + VRay, GI only. I used some planes on the top of the gears to get the different colors, thanks for viewing.

Old phone

This would take at least an hour with my old cpu, now just a minute with my i7 860 hehe. Made with 3D Studio Max 2011 + Vray, global illumination and basically VrayDirt for the texture of the scene.

Church

It was a hell to render this scene (more than 6h), due to the VRay lights I placed over the candles. I did it a long ago, I suppose nowadays I’d use global illumination and direct lights to get a similar result but with a much lower render time.

As the other renders, made with 3D Studio Max + VRay, but without GI

Hello

Hi, I’m going to start this new blog just to talk about some of my hobbies, but for the moment I’ll use it basically to upload some computer renders, which is something I really like, although my knowledge of 3d modeling is very basic, I hope you like it.
